Latin American Retail Congress addresses impacts of Big Data and artificial intelligence on the industry

The Center for Retailing Excellence (GVcev) of FGV’s Sao Paulo School of Business Administration (EAESP) will host the 10th Latin American Retail Conference (CLAV 2017) from October 19 - 20. The event will bring together experts and members of the academic community to generate, share, and disseminate knowledge on the retail segment, promoting the industry’s development across Latin America and worldwide.
CLAV’s theme this year is ‘Big Data & Applied Retail Analytics’. The opening lecture will be given by Venky Shankar, Marketing Professor and Research Director of the Center for Retailing Studies at Mays Business School (Texas A&M University). The international guest will talk about the future of retail, particularly the impacts of new mobile technologies and the latest innovations in the field of artificial intelligence.
The event will also feature a series of panels presenting papers and academic research in the field of retail, plus a panel with executives on big data and data analysis in retail. The closing lecture will address the future through innovation and collaboration. William Novaes, Watson Executive at IBM, will talk about the company’s initiative in cognitive intelligence.
