Brazil’s migration management and policy challenges and opportunities are discussed at event

FGV’s Department of Public Policy Analysis (DAPP), in partnership with the Observatory of International Migration (OBMigra) of University of Brasilia (UnB), will host the seminar titled ‘Migration management and policy: challenges and opportunities for the development of Brazil’. The event will be held on November 28, starting at 9:30 a.m., in the auditorium of FGV’s main office in Rio de Janeiro.
The debate series will cover three main themes: regulatory framework, data integration, and integration into society. The goal is to engage the academic community, government agencies, and civil society in discussions surrounding the country’s recent migratory cycles, considering the changes implemented by the new Migration Act.
In the applied research track Immigration and Development, DAPP carries out studies on global migratory movements and the socio-economic and institutional development of Brazil. In light of the recent influx of refugees into the country over the last few years, DAPP has focused its efforts on mapping out bottlenecks in the public sector for their insertion into society, while assessing the development opportunities created by immigration.
