PhD economics thesis receives ANPEC award

Sao Paulo School of Economics (EESP) professor Ricardo Masini received the 2017 Haralambos Simeonidis award for best PhD thesis in Economics in Brazil. Granted by the National Association of Economics Graduate Centers (ANPEC), the honor is considered one of the country’s most important academic awards in Economics.
Masini was awarded for the work ‘Contributions to the econometrics of counterfactual analysis,’ presented at the conclusion of his PhD in Economics at PUC-RJ (2016). The EESP professor also holds a Master’s degree in Economics from London School of Economics and is currently devoted to research on econometric theory, particularly regarding high-dimension models, counterfactual analysis, and financial econometrics.
Created in 1982, the Haralambos Simeonidis Award encourages reflection and research in Economics in Brazil. The award is given every year to the best work in the papers, books, and PhD theses categories.
