Social security is one of the main challenges that Brazil will have to overcome in the next few years. To discuss the issue, FGV’s EPGE Brazilian School of Economics and Finance (EPGE) and the World Bank will bring together authorities and experts for the seminar titled ‘Social Security: Challenges of the New Demographic Regime’, on December 11. The event will be held in the auditorium of FGV’s main office in Rio de Janeiro (Praia de Botafogo, 190. Botafogo, 12^th floor), from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event will feature the study ‘Social Security: an unpayable bill,’ published by the World Bank. According to the publication, Brazil spends too much in social security benefits for international standards. This amount will increase drastically over the next few decades due to changes in Brazil’s demographic structure.
