The Economic Criminal Law Research Group (GPDPE) of FGV’s Sao Paulo Law School (Direito SP) will host the event titled “Risks of Criminal Liability in Legal Practice” on December 14, at 9 a.m. The event will gather members of Direito SP’s Professional Master’s courses, GVlaw, and professionals from different fields of law to address the topics of legal practice, money laundering and corruption.

The opening ceremony will be led by the coordinator of GPDPE, professor Heloisa Estellita, and the executive secretary of the Council for Financial Activities Control (COAF), Ricardo Liáo. Discussions will be sorted into two blocks. The first will focus on the risks of criminal liability in the practice of law. Attorney Bruno Borragine will talk about money laundering, while attorney Eduardo Ferreira will address the topic of corruption.

The second block will focus on the adoption of anti-money laundering measures among lawyers. Discussions will include attorneys Theodoro Balducci, who will speak about the regulation of law firms in Spain and Portugal, and Aldo Romani, who will present a proposal to regulate professional law practice in Brazil.
