Contest rewards best participatory learning initiatives in Law

FGV’s Sao Paulo Law School (Direito SP) has opened registrations for the second edition of the Esdras Borges Costa Law Education Award. Created in 2014, the award provides visibility, promotes and facilitates access to educational materials that prioritize the empowerment of students within the Law education and learning process, in addition to encouraging faculty members and educational institutions to experiment, promote and discuss actual experiences regarding participatory learning in Law, ultimately helping improve legal education in the country.
The award is granted to professors teaching legal disciplines in Law courses or other areas of knowledge in Brazil, both in undergraduate and graduate courses, encompassing any participatory learning activity that empowers students to guide their own learning process.
Candidates must report their experiences from the inception of goals and specific steps of the process, to direct interactions with students and results achieved. The Esdras Award judging panel considers the level of empowerment achieved by students, the educational-teaching planning, interaction with other disciplines, dialog with social context, the potential of dissemination of the educational materials, the originality and creativity of the activity, and the use of technology to support the learning process.
The second edition’s grand prize is BRL 5,000.00. All awarded initiatives will be included in the Database of Participatory Law Educational Materials, which provides classroom dynamics and activities based on participatory learning in the field of Law.
