New introductory course on Data Science

FGV’s School of Applied Mathematics (EMAp) will provide the course ‘Introduction to Date Science Bootcamp’ on January 15-19. The course will address the issue that has become a central component in most analytical and decision-making processes.
The course will adopt a practical methodology to teach students how to use mathematical and computational tools to solve real-world problems involving big data. Participants will also have hands-on learning of how data science works and how to face problems in data cleaning, preview, forecast, and pattern recognition.
Coordinated by Center of Data Science da New York University (NYU) visiting professors Claudio Silva and Luiz Gustavo Nonato, the course is aimed at people interested in improving their knowledge and skills to address data issues in the industry, government, financial market, and academia. Participants must preferably be familiarized with basic statistics, linear algebra, and basic programming skills.
