When it comes to economics, FGV is a national benchmark both in publishing some of the main economic indexes and its excellence in teaching. Its outstanding performance in training most of the top economics professionals in the country is showcased by the evaluations of the Ministry of Education (MEC).

The last major result was the first place in the 2016 General Course Index (IGC-2016). Published on November 27, 2017, FGV’s EPGE Brazilian School of Economics and Finance (EPGE) ranked first in the country for the sixth time out of ten evaluations carried out by MEC. The assessment covers all areas of knowledge and includes more than 2,100 higher education institutions (IES) from across the country.

EPGE also leads economics evaluations by the National Student Performance Exam (ENADE), which gauges the performance of undergraduate students. When it comes to graduate school, the evaluation is also positive: top marks from the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes) across all of its Programs.

In November, the School also ranked first in the selection exam of the National Association of Graduate Study Centers in Economics (ANPEC) – one of the most challenging and recognized exams in the field of economics, bringing together more than 1,800 economics undergraduate students in Brazil. The first-place student also chose to join the Master’s program at FGV’s EPGE. In the international scenario, the School also stands out as the top scoring Economics Department in Latin America, according to the International Index of Tilburg University, from the Netherlands.
