Innovative initiative disseminates economic impact of legal decisions

Supported by FGV’s Applied Research and Knowledge Network, FGV’s Rio de Janeiro Law School (Direito Rio) has kicked off a project that involves analyzing and discussing the expected effects of legal rulings and regulations on the behavior of economic agents, among other propositions. The purpose of this innovative initiative aimed is to disseminate the Economic Analysis of Law within the Judiciary branch.
As part of the Academic Master’s in Regulation Law and the Center for Research in Law and Economics (CPDE), the initiative covers a broad spectrum of topics in this field. The goal is to establish a permanent framework with continuous resources to preserve, expand and promote interdisciplinary research within intersecting fields between Law and Economics, extensively disseminating this knowledge.
Master’s professors Armando Castelar Pinheiro and Antônio José Maristrello Porto are ahead of these initiatives, which will begin with a comprehensive program involving seminars, workshops, books, and papers with the Courts. The project is expected to deepen the understanding among participants regarding the interface between Law and Economics, both in theory and within the legal and economic reality of Brazil.
