FGV’s Sao Paulo School of Economics (EESP) and Sao Paulo Law School (Direito SP) will offer a joint discipline on company valuation for undergraduate students. The purpose of this partnership between the schools is to bolster the interdisciplinary approach within FGV’s education framework.

The Valuation course offers a unique approach to the subject. According to professors Ricardo Rochman (EESP), Viviane Muller Prado, and Renato Vilela (Direito SP), the link between economy and law in Brazil is not extensively explored, usually restricted to discussions on the use of methods and values specific to each field.

Building upon real cases and issues regarding finance, economy, and company valuations, the course enables students to carry out economic analyses based on aspects of the capital and financial markets, as well as the analytical-quantitative business model, while also weighing in factors from the field of Law. This means that students will be able to consider the entire complexity of legal debate, such as inconsistent legal and administrative rulings and its impacts in investment and pricing decisions.
