Experts discuss growth recovery in Brazil

Brazil’s economy started growing again in 2017, after a drawn-out recession. The 1% growth in the Gross Domestic Product suggests that the worst part of the crisis started in 2014 is over, but there is still a long road ahead. To discuss this subject, FGV’s World Economic Center (CEM) will host the seminar titled ‘Growth Recovery’ at FGV’s Cultural Center (Praia de Botafogo, 186. Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro/RJ), on April 2, starting at 9 a.m. The event will be attended by the current President of the Central Bank, Ilan Goldfajn, and former President of the CB and CEM Director Carlos Geraldo Langoni, in addition to economists, business executives, and experts in the matter.
The President of FGV, professor Carlos Ivan Simonsen Leal, will give the opening lecture, alongside the President of Firjan, Eduardo Eugênio Gouvêa Vieira; the President of FGV’s Business Cooperation Committee (CCE), Joao Carlos de Luca; the Chief Editor of Valor Econômico, Heloísa Magalhães; and CEM Director Carlos Langoni.
Next, Samuel Pessôa, researcher from FGV’s Brazilian Institute of Economics (IBRE), will present an overview of the current political scenario and its economic impacts. Richard Klien, President of Multiterminais, and Nelson Silva, Director of Strategy and Management of Petrobras, will also share the perspective of business executives regarding the economic recovery.
A lecture by the President of the CB, Ilan Goldfajn, marks the end of the event. After his presentation, Carlos Langoni will discuss alternatives to resume Brazilian economy’s growth.
