Opening lecture celebrates 70th anniversary of Brazilian Review of Economics

FGV’s EPGE Brazilian School of Economics and Finance (EPGE) will host the school’s 2018 opening lecture, given by Professor Aloisio Araujo, on March 26, at 11 a.m. The event also will mark the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Revista Brasileira de Economia (Brazilian Review of Economics – RBE), with a mini-conference with the publication’s collaborators.
A professor at EPGE for more than 20 years and member of the Brazilian and American Academy of Sciences, Aloisio Araujo will speak about macroeconomics and the fiscal fragility scenario of Brazil’s economy. After his presentation, professor Sergio Werlang will weave some comments on the topic.
The early part of the event will be dedicated to the 70th anniversary the RBE. The publication’s collaborators will present studies related to the purpose of the journal, which is to present original contributions, both of a general nature and empirical assessments, in the general field of Economics.
The mini-conferences will be attended by EPGE professors Kazuhiro Hara (Afriat Dimension), Felipe Iachan (Insuring Firms, Ensuring Misallocation), Carlos Eugenio da Costa (The Cost of Informality: an Optimal Taxation Approach), and Leandro Gorno (Nonadditive Probabilities and the Representation of Ambiguous Beliefs); UFRJ professor Alexandre Cunha (Capital Taxation in a Many-Sector Economy); and USP professors Gabriel Madeira (Campaign Spending, Information Acquisition and Accountability: A Mechanism Design Approach) and Jefferson Bertolai (Bank Runs with Many Small Banks and Mutual Guarantees at the Terminal Stage). In addition to these presentations, professor André Villela will give the lecture “70 years of RBE: a prosopography”.
