Financial market regulation challenges in Europe and Brazil discussed at seminar

For several years, economic shocks have hit financial markets in several countries, directly affecting many others. Central Banks and regulators are still debating the best way to prevent crises while also avoiding excessive control, which would hinder expansion and creativity in these markets. To address this issue, FGV’s Brazilian Institute of Economics (IBRE) will host the seminar titled ‘Financial market regulation challenges in Europe and Brazil’ on April 5, starting at 10 a.m., at FGV’s Main Office auditorium (Praia de Botafogo, 190 – 12th floor, Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro/RJ).

The event will be attended by two Central Bank directors directly responsible for dealing with this issue. Andreas Dombret, member of the Executive Board of the Deutsche Bundesbank (Germany), and Otavio Ribeiro Damaso, Director of Regulation of the Central Bank of Brazil, will share their insights on the European and Brazilian cases.

The debate will also include Brazil’s former Minister of Finance, Marcílio Marques Moreira, and the Head of IBRE’s Monetary Studies Center and former Director of Public Debt and Open Market of the Central Bank, José Júlio Senna.
