FGV’s Rio de Janeiro Law School (Direito Rio) has recently released the report titled ‘Integridade e Transparência de Empresas Estatais no Brasil’ [Integrity and Transparency of State-Owned Companies in Brazil], developed through the school’s partnership project with Transparency International Brazil.

The study analyzes the recent efforts – based on best international practices and legal changes – to provide greater integrity and transparency to Brazil’s state-owned companies. Therefore, the study was carried out based on requests for access to information, case law, and academic studies, covering various aspects regarding the integrity of such companies, such as compliance, transparency, corporate governance, and institutional relations.

The project was supported by the Advisory Council of the Integrity Initiative for State-Owned Companies, comprised of officials from several Brazilian state-owned companies operating in the fields of compliance, risk analysis, legal affairs, and integrity. 
  
“Brazilian state-owned companies have huge structural and economic responsibilities. Since they belong to society, these companies must be true role models when it comes to integrity, transparency, and accountability to its owners, the citizens”, said Bruno Brandão, Director of Transparency International Brazil, emphasizing the importance of the study.
