FGV professor is elected VP of Brazilian Institute of Criminal Sciences

On March 27, professor Thiago Bottino, coordinator of undergraduate courses at FGV’s Rio de Janeiro Law School (Direito Rio), was elected First Vice President of the Brazilian Institute of Criminal Sciences (IBCCRIM) – one of the country’s most important Criminal Law institutions.
Established in 1992, IBCCRIM is a not-for-profit civil association whose objectives include promoting scientific debate in the fields of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, and Criminology, as well as fostering public debate between various legal and non-legal players of civil society and the State regarding the issues of violence and crime, and the public interventions needed to safeguard citizens in the exercise of their fundamental rights.
The nomination ceremony was held at the main office of IBCCRIM, in São Paulo, during the Institute’s Ordinary and Extraordinary General Meeting, attended by the Institute’s associates. Besides Bottino, Roberto Luiz Corcioli Filho and Carla Silene Cardoso Lisbôa Bernardo were elected Deputy Secretary and National Director of Regional and State Coordinators, respectively, completing the Executive Board.
