The Undergraduate Coordinator of FGV’s Rio de Janeiro Law School (Direito Rio), professor Thiago Bottino, discussed the legacy of Operation Car Wash with former Attorney General, Rodrigo Janot, at the opening of the CLS Brazil Forum, in New York (USA). Held on April 20, the event discussed the main issues of Brazil’s legal and political scenario. Lawyer Modesto Carvalhosa and Antonio Pérez-Marques, partner at U.S. law firm Davis Polk & Wardell, LLP, also participated in the panel.

The event was held at Columbia Law School, where Bottino was a visiting professor between January and February this year. Established in 1754, the institution opened its law course in 1793. Since then, it has become one of the most prestigious law schools in the United States and around the world.

This was the second edition of the event, which last year was attended by Judges Luis Roberto Barroso (Supreme Federal Court – STF), Paulo de Tarso Sanseverino (Superior Court of Justice – STJ), the Executive Director of the Center for the Advancement of Public Integrity of Columbia Law School, Jennifer Rodgers, as well as Brazilian and U.S. professors and representatives of major law firms (Shearman & Sterling LLP, Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, Kirkland & Ellis LLP, Dechert LLP, Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, and White & Case LLP).
