Comparative research on development banks is published in Ipea compilation

A paper by researcher Ana Lucia Guedes, from the Department of Public Policy Analysis (FGV DAPP), was published this month on the compilation ‘Desafios da Nação: artigos de apoio, volume 1’ [Challenges of the Nation: support papers, volume 1], produced by the Institute of Applied Economic Research (Ipea). The paper presents comparative research on development bank practices in Germany, China, South Korea, Turkey, and Brazil, specifically regarding the support to the internationalization process of companies.
“Despite having their actions challenged by a narrow view that has been disseminated in recent decades, public development banks continue to be extremely important for countries, regions, and complex and interconnected global systems”, said Guedes.
The publication ‘Desafios da Nação’, compiled by João Alberto De Negri, Bruno César Araújo, and Ricardo Bacelette, contains propositions relating to 16 main areas of Brazilian economy and is part of the eponymous research project that focuses on the promotion of national development based on higher productivity. The work covers a total of 77 researchers from Ipea and other institutions, with 32 thematic workshops on the topics addressed and 36 supporting articles.
