Event debates gender equality and economic inclusion in Brazil

EPGE Brazilian School of Economics and Finance (FGV EPGE), in partnership with the World Bank Group, will host the seminar titled ‘Women, Companies, and the Law 2018 - Gender equality and economic inclusion in Brazil’, from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m, on May 14. The event will be held in the auditorium of FGV’s main office in Rio de Janeiro (Praia de Botafogo, 190. 12th floor. Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro/RJ), presenting the report ‘Women, Companies, and the Law 2018’, developed by the World Bank.
The seminar aims to discuss the economic, historical, and legal aspects of gender inequality in Brazil, in addition to tracing a comparative regional and global analysis and pointing out possible alternatives to bring down barriers to women’s economic participation.
The event will be opened by the Dean of FGV EPGE, professor Rubens Penha Cysne, and lawyer and gender expert from the World Bank, Paula Tavares, who will present the report ‘Women, Companies, and the Law 2018’. Professors Ligia Fabris (Rio de Janeiro Law School (FGV Direito Rio)) and Ynaê Lopes dos Santos (School of Social Sciences (FGV CPDOC)) will comment on the subject and the panel will be moderated by Cecília Machado (FGV EPGE).
The second panel will focus on debates about gender inequality and the challenge of economic inclusion. The topic will be discussed by professors Cecília Machado (FGV EPGE) and Laura Schiavon (UFJF), as well as researcher Ana Luiza Neves de Holanda Barbosa (Ipea), with Paula Tavares as moderator.
