Internet of Things publication is launched in Rio

What is the future of the internet and what are the potential effects of the Internet of Things on society? These are some of the questions addressed in the newest book published by FGV Press in partnership with FGV’s Rio de Janeiro Law School (FGV Direito Rio). Written by professor Eduardo Magrani, “A internet das coisas” [The internet of things] will be launched on June 19, at 7 p.m., at Livraria Travessa, located in Shopping Leblon (Avenida Afrânio de Melo Franco, 290 – store 205 A – Leblon, Rio de Janeiro/RJ).
The Internet of Things is basically the term used to describe the increase in machine communication over the internet – development of tools and micro-devices that capture data from their environment through sensors and other technologies –, becoming an integral part of the internet for the amenities of modern life.
“The information that travels on the Internet will no longer be placed on the web only by people, but by things and algorithms endowed with artificial intelligence, which can exchange data and information with each other and form an increasingly automated space of network connections and information”, said Eduardo Magrani.
The author will participate in a chat session during the book launch alongside Eduardo Peixoto, from Instituto CESAR of Recife, and Caitlin Sampaio, from PUC-RJ.
