Sao Paulo Law School (FGV Direito SP) professor Michelle Ratton Sanches Badin will participate in the webinar “Investment Facilitation – Making sense of concepts, discussions and processes”, on July 10. Organized by the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), the initiative will bring together international experts such as Joe Zhang (IISD) and Lauge Poulsen (University College London – UCL).

The investment facilitation theme is at the center of the debate on international law. In 2014, Brazil proposed a new model that emphasizes cooperation and investment facilitation, superseding previous laws, which focused on investor protection and dispute resolution. The purpose of this webinar is precisely to discuss the relevance, opportunities and risks of the debate on investment facilitation, especially for developing countries.

The three participating experts will provide an overview of how investment facilitation developed on a bilateral level and across various international forums. They will discuss the meaning of the term and how it relates to sustainable development. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, provide information, and share strategic and other considerations.
