FGV’s Rio de Janeiro Law School (Direito Rio) hosts the first lecture in the “Legal Tech Talks” series on March 20, at 6:30 p.m., at FGV Candelária. Created by AB2L – Brazilian Association of Lawtechs and Legaltechs, the series features dynamic lectures addressing innovative technology applied to the Law from the perspective of visionary professionals who stand out in their fields. The first edition focuses on the experience of women in Law who have chosen to develop new solutions and products in the legal market through the use of information technology.

The meeting will be attended by Andressa Barros, a partner at Siqueira Castro who works in the field of New Business linked to New Technologies; Eliane Simes, partner in charge of jurimetrics at e-Xyon, a lawtech based in Rio the Janeiro; and Maria Eduarda Herriot, CLO at LegAut, a legal automation lawtech.

“Discussions like this are extremely important because they reflect the breakdown of certain legal paradigms and, no less important, give visibility to an increasing influence on the job market: women,” said Herriot.

The lecture is coordinated by professors Caio Ramalho, coordinator of the FGVnest – Center for Startup, Innovation, Venture Capital and Private Equity Studies, Ivar Hartmann, coordinator of Direito Rio’s Center for Legal Data Science, and Victor Rizzo, Chief Technology Officer at AB2L. The event is part of the course Lawtechs: Programming for lawyers and entrepreneurs, which aims to provide legal professionals, entrepreneurs and others with instruction on the basic aspects of programming.

Such training is essential for professionals who wish to work directly or indirectly with lawtechs, fintechs, insurtechs, healthtechs and other kinds of startups, as well as in several pioneering fields of law.
