FGV attends international forum on the use of artificial intelligence in public policy

In early March, 15 leading U.S. think tanks gathered in Palo Alto, California, to prepare recommendations to the U.S. and Canadian governments on the application of artificial intelligence techniques in public policy. The meeting focused on topics related to defense, international relations, and education.

On the occasion, it was agreed that, while artificial intelligence allows humans to work faster and better, there are concerns regarding regulation and governance in the use of techniques that have the potential to cause significant changes in society’s behavior.

Five think tanks from outside the region were invited to the meeting: two from Europe, one from Israel, and FGV.

The institution was represented by professors Marlos Lima, from FGV’s International Affairs Division (DINT), Renato Souza, from FGV’s School of Applied Mathematics (EMAp), and Vinicius Pantoja, from FGV Projetos.
