Administration students visit PMERJ’s Special Operations Battalion

Students from FGV’s Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (EBAPE) visited the Special Operations Battalion (BOPE) of the Military Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro (PMERJ) on March 22. The guided tour was accompanied by Marco Tulio Zanini, Professor of People Management, Flávio Vasconcellos, Dean of FGV EBAPE, and Professor Edson Kondo.

This was the sixth annual visit by the students of the subject. On the occasion, the Commander of BOPE, Lieutenant-Colonel Maurílio Nunes, Member of the Alumni body of FGV EBAPE (MEX 2014 class) held a welcoming talk and guided tour of the unit’s facilities.

“The visit to BOPE has a didactic purpose for our students. They are invited to reflect on the challenges of managing a special operations unit that is extremely critical to the Public Security area of Rio de Janeiro. In addition to other visits to companies, this visit brings the reality of concrete organizational challenges that demand leadership and a value-oriented management as a way to address the risks associated with uncertainty and complexity of the context of action,” said Professor Zanini.
