International Forum tackles historic turnaround in Organizational Studies

Adherence to the proposals for an in-depth articulation between the historical perspective and the field of Administration is increasing, as well as a new positioning in this relation based on a critical theoretical landmark called a historical turnaround. These and other aspects will be addressed in the special issue of RAE – Journal of Business Administration, published by Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo School of Business Administration (EAESP).

The organizers of the international call for the special issue, professors Amon Barros (FGV EAESP), Diego M. Coraiola (University of Alberta), Mairi MacLean (University of Bath) and William M. Foster (University of Alberta), noted that the historical turnaround changed the understanding of the role of time, history and memory in management and organizational studies (MOS), enabling the emergence of new concepts and approaches of the dialogue between management and history.

Despites the growing interest in incorporating issues of time, memory, and history into MOS research, much of the empirical work published comes from Europe and North America. The special edition aims to be inclusive and connect a broad community of scholars interested in deepening the debate around issues of memory, temporality and history in Management and Organizational Studies. The call for papers is open for theoretical, methodological and empirical contributions on management and organizations of multiple theoretical, epistemological and cultural knowledge sets from different geographic locations. The deadline for submissions ends on June 30.

Next, William M. Foster presents the call for papers:
