International initiative aims to contribute to humanitarian training in Africa

The dean of Fundação Getulio Vargas’ School of Social Sciences (FGV CPDOC), Professor Celso Castro, and the dean of the FGV´s School of International Relations (FGV RI), Professor Eduardo Mello, recently participated in a cooperation agreement signing ceremony and launch of the book “ISCTE Conferences – Humanitarian Action.” The event took place on January 22 at Lisbon University Institute (ISCTE). It was also attended by representatives of the universities of Maputo, Rovuma and Púnguè in Mozambique.

The cooperation agreement aims to contribute to student education in all parts of the world. The president of ISCTE, Maria de Lurdes Rodrigues, explained that the initial focus is on the community of Portuguese-speaking countries, to prepare cosmopolitan but local professionals from countries where stronger and more frequent humanitarian action is required.

The ceremony was also attended by the Portuguese minister of foreign affairs, Augusto Santos Silva. The deans of FGV CPDOC and FGV RI participated in it as part of their efforts to internationalize Fundação Getulio Vargas’ research and education activities.
