On July 22, Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Brazilian School of Economics and Finance (FGV EPGE) will hold a debate on the need for state governments to carry out fiscal adjustments and difficulties involved in doing so, given constitutional restrictions related to payroll expenses. The event will be broadcast live on FGV’s YouTube channel, starting at 6:30 pm.

The webinar, called “State Governments’ Fiscal Adjustments and Their Legal Limitations,” will feature the state finance secretaries of Goiás and Rio Grande do Sul, Cristiane Alkmin Schmidt and Marco Aurélio Cardoso, respectively, as well as Professor Patrícia Regina Pinheiro Sampaio of the FGV Rio de Janeiro Law School. The moderator will be Professor Renato Fragelli of FGV EPGE.
