Webinar debates coastal shipping with Brazilian shipowners

To find out how shipowners see the future of coastal shipping in Brazil, FGV Transport will hold a webinar on July 28, called “Challenges for the Growth of Coastal Shipping, as Viewed by Brazilian Shipowners.” The event will be broadcast live on FGV’s YouTube channel, starting at 6 pm.
The webinar will be moderated by the coordinator of FGV Transport, Marcus Quintella, and the president of the Brazilian Association of Coastal Shipping Operators (ABAC), Cleber Lucas. The speakers will be the director of Aliança Navegação e Logística, Julian Thomas; the CEO of shipping company NORSUL and ABAC director Angelo Baroncini; and the institutional relations director of chemicals transportation company FLUMAR, Marco Aurélio Guedes, who is also an ABAC director.
According to Quintella, Brazil’s long coastline favors the use of coastal shipping to transport and distribute goods. In comparative terms, it is also a safe, low-energy, low-pollution and high-capacity form of transportation. Figures show that despite coastal shipping’s low share of cargo movements in Brazil (approximately 11%), the volume transported grew 11.3% between January and April 2019 and the same period of this year.
