Webinar discusses Latin America’s economic situation and paths to recovery following COVID-19

On July 29, the Center for Studies on New Developmentalism at Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo School of Business Administration (FGV EAESP), Columbia University’s Center for Sustainable Development and the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) will hold a webinar called “Three Plagues: COVID-19, Dutch Disease and the Curse of Natural Resources.” The event will be broadcast live on FGV’s YouTube channel, starting at 3 pm.
The panelists will discuss Latin America’s dependence on commodities, insufficient investment in technology, the innovation and knowledge economy, and how Latin America’s economies can recover better after COVID-19.
The international webinar’s speakers will be professors Jeffrey Sachs (Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University), Gabriel Palma (University of Cambridge), Fiona Tregenna (University of Johannesburg), Luiz Carlos Bresser-Pereira (FGV EAESP) and Nelson Marconi (FGV EAESP).
