Specialists debate fintechs’ opportunities and challenges in Brazil

On November 5, Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo law schools and its International Affairs Division (FGV DINT) will hold a webinar called “The New Regulatory Environment for Fintechs in Brazil: Opportunities and Challenges.” The event will be broadcast live in Portuguese, with simultaneous interpretation into English, on FGV’s YouTube channel, starting at 5 pm.
The fast growth of fintechs in Brazil is creating challenges and opportunities, and startups need to know how to navigate this complex new regulatory environment.
The webinar will feature João Manuel Pinho de Mello, the Brazilian Central Bank’s financial system organization and resolutions director; and Armando Castelar, a researcher at Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Brazilian Institute of Economics (FGV IBRE). They will discuss the impacts of innovative business models, regulations governing fintechs and challenges involved in promoting competitiveness. They will also talk about how the regulatory authorities are dealing with new trends without hindering innovation in the financial sector.
