Public policy on artificial intelligence to be debated in free webinar

On November 11, Fundação Getulio Vargas’ School of Public Policy and Government (FGV EPPG) will hold a free webinar on public policy related to artificial intelligence. The event will be broadcast live on FGV’s YouTube channel, starting at 10 am.

A presentation will be given by Helen Margetts, Professor of Society and the Internet at the University of Oxford. The idea is to discuss how data science and artificial intelligence will allow greater innovation and efficiency in the provision of public services while posing new challenges and moral dilemmas. What artificial intelligence technologies may help policymakers and what digital government models may emerge?

Margetts will present her work on digital era governance and her experience in creating and directing the Public Policy Program at the Alan Turing Institute, which is working together with policymakers to explore how the provision of public services based on data and political innovation may solve long-standing “perverse” political issues and develop the ethical foundations for the use of data science and artificial intelligence in policy making.

The talk will be in English. Those interested in participating can sign up here.
