Online event debates 5G applications in logistics and transport sector

On November 12, FGV Transport will hold a webinar called “5G Technology in Transport, Logistics and Urban Mobility.” The event will be broadcast live on FGV’s YouTube channel, starting at 10:30 am. The aim is to discuss this technology’s potentialities for the sector.

5G will cause a lot of technological evolution in the areas of transport, logistics and urban mobility, leading to significant positive impacts for the movement of freight and people. Logistics chains will become faster, more secure and more productive.

According to specialists, life in cities will become easier as “smart city” measures are implemented, such as 5G traffic lights and street signs, as well as 5G signals along avenues and roads, making it possible to interact with vehicles via artificial intelligence. In this way, autonomous, electric and shared cars, buses and trucks will become a reality, as will communication between all vehicles, allowing speed monitoring, more efficient traffic light cycles, route changes, energy savings and reduced congestion.

According to researchers, the concept of mobility as a service (MaaS) will change cities within a few decades, considerably reducing the number of vehicles in circulation, enabling more intelligent movements and improving traffic management and monitoring.

This subject will be presented and discussed by the executive director of the Brazilian Digital Movement, Vitor Cavalcanti; and Ericsson’s vice president for corporate affairs in the Southern Cone of Latin America, Georgia Sbrana. The moderator will be the director of FGV Transport, Marcus Quintella.
