Webinar explores open data and data protection in urban public policy

Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo School of Business Administration will hold a free online debate on Thursday, November 12, about Open Data and Data Protection in Urban Public Policy. The event will be broadcast live on FGV’s YouTube channel, starting at 2 pm.

Data collection is a significant factor when planning urban public policies, based on evidence and the construction of transparent cities capable of creating open innovation systems. But how should data be collected without violating people’s right to privacy and protection of personal data, as recently regulated in Brazil? How can we ensure that the data collected in cities is used for the common good rather than being seized and kept in private hands? The aim of this webinar is to deepen people’s knowledge of the subject and build on the innovative urban mobility system developed in São José dos Campos.

Talks will be given by Kelsey Finch of the Future of Privacy Forum, Rafael Zanatta of Data Privacy Brasil and Anna Artyushina of York University. The moderators will be Ciro Biderman, the coordinator of Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Center for Politics and Economics of the Public Sector (CEPESP); and FGV Professor Alexandre Pacheco.
