Online event debates early childhood policies

In order to shed light on different nuances in the field of law involving early childhood, the Center for Technology and Society (CTS) at the Fundação Getulio Vargas Rio de Janeiro Law School will hold a webinar called “Early Childhood and Legal Research” on Thursday, November 26. The event, to be broadcast on FGV’s YouTube channel starting at 10 am, will discuss challenges involving research and interdisciplinary work on early childhood.

As a research topic in the field of law, early childhood may be analyzed from multiple perspectives, including public policy and regulations aimed at this age group, litigation and practical implications in upholding fundamental legal guarantees, among other issues.

On November 26, the discussions will be led by CTS researcher Natália Maia, who is doing a doctorate in social anthropology at Rio de Janeiro Federal University; and fellow CTS researcher Lorena Abbas, who is doing a doctorate in public policy, also at Rio de Janeiro Federal University. The other speakers will be Judge Raquel Chrispino of the Rio de Janeiro State Court of Appeals, who is doing a master’s in law at Rio de Janeiro Federal University; Eloísa Machado de Almeida, the coordinator of the Supreme Court on the Agenda Project at the FGV Sao Paulo Law School, who has a doctorate in human rights; and Pedro Hartung, a lawyer and coordinator of the Alana Institute’s Absolute Priority Program, who has a doctorate in law.
