Study on racial equality receives funding from Google

The FGV Sao Paulo Law School’s Center for Studies on Racial Justice and Law has received a donation of US$100,000 from Google. This is part of an investment of R$2.5 million made by Google.org, the philanthropic arm of the technology giant, earmarked for organizations that promote racial equality in Brazil. The aim is to support initiatives that are promoting racial justice and tackling violence against black people in the country.

The center, coordinated by professors Marta Machado and Thiago Amparo, was created to encourage and carry out in-depth studies about structural racism in Brazilian society and the role of law in the fight against racism.

The donation will be used to fund a study by the center about police violence and the justice system, focusing on case studies regarding the impacts of this violence on black people.
