Event brings together specialists to debate impacts of digital innovations in payments market

Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Rio de Janeiro Law School will hold an international seminar called “Payments Market: A Path to the Future” on December 11. The aim is to assess the impacts of key digital innovations that have been taking place in the American and Brazilian payments markets, as well as other developments in the sector. The virtual event will take place at 2 pm on FGV’s YouTube channel.

The webinar will mark the end of the “Technological Disruption in the Payments Market: Legal and Economic Implications” research project and the launch of “Financial Regulation in Debate,” a book produced as part of research carried out by the Center for Advanced Studies on the Regulation of the National Financial System (NEASF).

The speakers will be Charles Kahn, professor emeritus at the University of Illinois’ Department of Finance and Economics, with a PhD in economics from Harvard University (1981), who has been an advisor to the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago (since 2009) and to the International Monetary Fund (2009-2010 and 2017-2020); and Rafaela Nogueira, public policy associate at Nubank, who has a master’s and PhD in economics from FGV EPGE. Nogueira has lectured on statistics and macroeconomics at the FGV Rio de Janeiro Law School and worked as a researcher at the same school’s Center for Research in Law and Economics (CPDE).

Members of the public who sign up for the webinar and watch it via Zoom will have access to simultaneous interpretation. Those who watch the event on YouTube will not have access to this feature.
