In November, Fundação Getulio Vargas’ Sao Paulo Law School, in partnership with the Wilson Center Brazil Institute, University of Sao Paulo and Mackenzie University, launched a book titled “Lessons of Operation Car Wash: A legal, institutional and economic analysis.” Organized by Professor Paulo Goldschmidt of the Sao Paulo Law School and Professor Fábio Bechara of Mackenzie University, the book contains articles about the subject by 13 academics.

Written in English, the book analyzes the causes and effects of systemic corruption in Brazil and in particular the responses of legal authorities involved in Operation Car Wash. The authors – Fernanda Regina Vilares, Ligia Maura Costa, Maria Lucia L. M. Padua Lima, Paulo C. Goldschmidt, Maria Thereza Rocha de Assis Moura, Marta Saad, Marcos Zilli, Fabio Ramazzini Bechara, Gianpaolo Poggio Smanio, Adriano Teixeira, Raquel Scalcon, Marco Aurélio Florêncio Filho and Giovani Agostini Saavedra – have dedicated themselves to analyzing the complexities of Operation Car Wash, based on different approaches and concerns, including the institutional and economic effects caused by it, aspects related to international legal cooperation and plea bargains, among other subjects.
