EESP course debates experimental methods in corporate finance

Aimed at Master's and/or PhD students in Economics, Finance, Management, Accounting and related disciplines, the short course also helped the students to produce publishable articles in specialized journals, with emphasis on new methodologies.

The São Paulo School of Economics (FGV/EESP) conducted between July 28 and August 1, the short course Empirical Methods in Corporate Finance, taught by the professor of Cornell University in Ithaca - New York, Murillo Campello.The aim was to help students understand how to design and implement experiences on specific topics, such as financial capital structure, limits of corporations, interactions between financial decisions and competitive behavior in the industry, financial restriction impact on investment, liquidity management, among other aspects. According to Campello, the course covered modern and advanced materials related to the current discussion of international literature.Aimed at Master's and/or PhD students in Economics, Finance, Management, Accounting and related disciplines, the short course also helped the students to produce publishable articles in specialized journals, with emphasis on new methodologies. The assessment of students in the course includes participation in class discussions and formal proposals for research projects, among other activities, added Campello, who also gave a lecture on Enhancing the Contracting Space: Collateral Menus, access to Credit and Economic Activity at EESP, on July 30.Empirical Methods in Corporate Finance took place at Rua Itapeva, 432, in São Paulo.
