Partnership between Rio de Janeiro Law School and Estadão encourages debate on technology and the elections

The initiative seeks to analyze how electoral courts have reacted to the use of new media in the election period and how technology can influence the struggle for the citizens' votes.

Rio de Janeiro Law School (FGV DIREITO RIO) and the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo have partnered to discuss the use of information and communication technologies in the elections. Over the next three months, the researchers from the Center for Technology and Society (CTS) and the Center for Justice and Society (CJUS) will develop a series of analyses on legal issues related to the election campaign in the digital environment.The initiative seeks to analyze how electoral courts have reacted to the use of new media in the election period and how technology can influence the struggle for the citizens' votes. With the growing use of new information technologies by voters, the internet will be of even greater importance in the 2014 elections. The dispute for votes on the Internet will be fierce, and it should move the electoral courts across the country, stated the co-manager of CTS, Luiz Fernando Moncau.Please click here and check out the articles published in the newspaper (in Portuguese).
