The Alumni Association of Politécnica (A³P) - representative body of the alumni of the Polytechnic School of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) - held on July 30, a ceremony in honor of Fundação Getulio Vargas's president, Carlos Ivan Simonsen Leal, a civil engineer who graduated from the institution.The event was attended, among other authorities, by the president of A³P, Heloi Moreira; the director of the Polytechnic School, João Carlos Basílio and the advisor to the presidency of FGV and former classmate of Carlos Ivan, Sergio Werlang. The meeting was organized by the member of A³P and also an advisor to the president, Bernardo Griner.Since 1996, A³P annually pays a tribute to the alumni of the Polytechnic School, with the title of Distinguished Engineer. According to the association, they are alumni who have stood out in their profession, either as technicians or administrators of important public and private entities. President Carlos Ivan was chosen, according to A³P, for his brilliant professional career for 33 years after graduation, along with his personal, charitable and educational trajectory.Today is an extremely interesting day because, at the time we welcome the freshmen (at the Polytechnic School of UFRJ), we also honor one of our best students - who has shown an extremely convenient academic performance for the institution in terms of excellence, said Professor Heloi Moreira.The ceremony took place at the auditorium of Fundação Getulio Vargas's main offices, at Praia de Botafogo, 190, Rio de Janeiro.
