Rio de Janeiro has the largest dissatisfaction with high prices in Brazil, with a volume of complaints 50% higher than São Paulo. That's what the survey made by the Public Policy Analysis Division (FGV/DAPP) on July 18-25, from monitoring 150,000 comments on social networks, indicates. The dissatisfaction expressed among consumers in the network is related to the official inflation rates measured by the metropolitan area. The highest price increases in the past 12 months were recorded in Porto Alegre, Rio and Recife. The map of comments on high prices and low prices revealed that, following Rio and São Paulo, the capitals of the southern region are the ones with the greatest dissatisfaction with the cost of living. In the Northeast region, Recife is featured as the most expensive capital. The complaints are, in 40% of the cases, related to food and leisure - items that have suffered greater impact due to the hosting of the World Cup and music events. But the negative quotes also extend to public transport tariffs, health plans and books, sectors where price increases affect the access to basic services. Dissatisfaction with the quality of services is thus added to the dissatisfaction with the value of services rendered, especially in metropolitan areas. The monitoring of inflation in the networks was published in last Sunday's edition (27) of the newspaper O Globo and was the second analysis of a partnership between FGV/DAPP and the newspaper, whose premiere took place on the 20th. FGV/DAPP's analysis, always related to public policies, will be published regularly on Sundays until the end of the electoral period. Please read more about the partnership here.
