FGV/EBAPE professor analyzes role of innovation in economic growth

On July 8, the professor of the Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (FGV/EBAPE), Paulo Figueiredo, gave an interview to the newspaper Folha Dirigida. In the article ?Inovar para formar capital humano? (Innovation for human capital formation), he spoke about the importance of innovation to the technological and industrial development process of developing countries.According to Figueiredo, the human capital supply of the formal system of education and training is important for the technological and economic progress, but not enough. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure the formation of assimilation capacity and technological innovation through learning mechanisms within companies. In addition to being a full professor, Paul is coordinator of the Research Program in Technological Learning and Industrial Innovation Management in Brazil, at FGV/EBAPE.
