Rio de Janeiro Law School students (FGV DIREITO RIO) will participate, on May 18-23, in the Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court, held at the American University Washington College of Law in the United States. The School will be represented by Amanda Peres Fernandes, Amanda Pimenta Gil Prota and Catarina Dacosta Freitas. The competition requires students to discuss the merits of a hypothetical case, based on a topic currently being debated within the Human Rights Inter-American Legal System. We have been preparing for 6 months to go to the American University, in Washington DC, where the competition will be based. Throughout these months we had the opportunity to get familiar with the Human Rights Inter-American System, and learn how to prepare a brief and train how to speak better in public. Catarina was our tutor, since she's already participated in the competition, and guided us in the preparation of arguments and brief, said Amanda Peres. The Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court is one of the most traditional moot court competitions in the world.
