Inflation measured by the IGP-DI slows down in April

The General Price Index - Internal Availability (IGP-DI), calculated by the Brazilian Institute of Economics (FGV/IBRE) changed 0.45% in April - which means a slowdown deceleration compared to March, which registered a 1.48% change.From the indexes that comprise the IGP-DI, two showed a decrease in their change rates: the Broad Producer Price Index (IPA) and the Consumer Price Index (IPC). The largest contributions to the decrease came from items like coffee, soybeans and grain corn, besides airline tickets, greens and vegetables, and gasoline. Medicines in general, residential electricity tariff and clothing presented an increase.The National Construction Cost Index (INCC) also recorded an increase in April, with a 0.88% change rate in April- above the result of the previous month, which was 0.28%.The IGP-DI's accumulated change in 2014, until April, was 3.22%. In 12 months, the index changed 8.10%.The IGP-DI of April is calculated based on prices collected between the 1st and the 30th of the reference month.Please click here and learn more (in Portuguese).
