Professors of the Brazilian School of Public and Business Administration (FGV/EBAPE), Marco Tulio Zanini and Carmen Migueles, with the chief of the office of the Secretariat of Planning and Management of Rio de Janeiro (SEPLAG), Marcio Colmerauer, launch today, April 24, the book A ponta da Lança (The tip of the spear) - the result of a study of nearly three years on the behavior of the elite police force in Brazil and the United States from a working point of view. The work seeks to understand the intangible aspects of Brazilian police management compared to the American teams SWAT and U.S. MARINES from the analysis of the performance of the Batalhão de Operações Policiais Especiais (BOPE), the Coordenadoria de Recursos Especiais (CORE) and of the Comando de Operações Táticas (COT) - military, civil and federal police in Rio de Janeiro, respectively. Elements such as leadership, culture and trustable relations are discussed in order to understand how they help develop competence in these teams and achieve results.According to the authors, companies today face dilemmas in the quest for differentiation and innovation, but the preconditions to achieve these goals are the ability to generate a management system that stimulates a work direction, motivation and mutual trust among its members. A Ponta da Lança (Tip of the Spear) shows that the strength of the bond, present in the police's special operation teams, is exactly the missing link in the current management of the companies. The launch is open to the public and takes place at Livraria da Travessa, at Shopping Leblon, Rio de Janeiro, at 7 pm.
