FGV sponsors Infoglobo?s Young Entrepreneurs Award

With the support of Fundação Getulio Vargas, Infoglobo - which publishes the newspapers O GLOBO, Extra and Expresso - is sponsoring Prêmio Jovens Empreendedores (Young Entrepreneurs Award), which will select the best ideas in the fields of sustainability, culture, education, urban mobility, services, technology or social responsibility.Professor Silvio Gouvea, director of FGV Management Rio and Brasília, emphasizes that people born in Rio de Janeiro are not only creative, but have innovative thinking, which is essential when thinking about business that can cause positive and lasting impacts on society and the local economy.Rio de Janeiro has shown a strong talent for new developments in technology. Therefore, this is an area that should have an expressive participation in the contest. But the fashion, culture and sports sectors should also be strongly represented, as well as tourism and the service sector as a whole, says Gouvea, recalling that there are ample opportunities for enterprises of various sectors. The judging panel will consist of professionals of FGV, GLOBO and other institutions related to entrepreneurship, such as Sebrae, Endeavor and Pipa. Ten projects will be selected for an in-person presentation to be held in May, at FGV's auditorium. Of this group, there will be three winners, who will receive awards of R$ 15.000, R$ 10.000 and R$ 5.000, respectively. The awards event will be held in the auditorium of newspaper O GLOBO, also in May.The selection criteria include social or cultural development benefits for the community, ethics and responsibility, knowledge of the team to develop and continue the new business, degree of innovation and creativity, growth and sustainability capacity of the business, and finally, technical and economic feasibility.Overall, we expect to receive innovative projects that bring new and different solutions to old problems, or suggest a rational use of resources. Projects must also take into consideration its own sustainability, both in economic as in market and competition terms, since it is not enough to have a good idea: it is essential to keep in mind how to do it with caution and plan the next steps. Above all, projects must recall Rio, and must know how to exploit the various economic talents that the city has to offer, concluded Gouvea. How to participateYoung people with an idea to be developed that may bring contributions to society may register until April 30 at O GLOBO's website.Participants must be entrepreneurs between 18 and 35 years old living in Rio de Janeiro state, not registered at the National Registry of Legal Entities, and shall present, upon registration, a business plan in the segments of sustainability, culture, education, urban mobility, services, technology or social responsibility.Questions will be answered by email jovensempreendedores@oglobo.com.br.
