A group of graduate students of FGV's Rio de Janeiro Law School visited, on March 19, the main offices of Rede Nami - a feminist network partner of the Practice Program of the Legal Practice Center (NPJ) which uses urban arts to promote women's rights. On the occasion, students also got to know the favela Tavares Bastos, where the organization is located.Operating since 2010, Rede Nami sought the Laboratory for Legal Assistance to Social Organizations (LAJES) to prepare and register its articles of organization, which enables it to receive funds and donations. As a result of the legal assistance conducted by LAJES, the organization managed to raise funds which enabled the purchase of a house used as its main offices. This initiative contributes to the humanistic education of students, allowing contact with other social realities, explained the Professor Rodolfo Noronha, who oversees the lab.In the opinion of NPJ's coordinator, Professor André Mendes, LAJES' legal advice work expresses the innovation and social commitment goals of the School's NPJ.Rede Nami is a group that includes several urban artists, women who use their artistic talents - especially graffiti - for the promotion of Human Rights and gender equality. Please click here and learn more.
