Cadernos FGV Projetos discusses public-private partnerships in the country

FGV Projetos has launched Cadernos FGV Projetos No. 23: Parcerias Público-Privadas no Brasil (Public-Private Partnerships in Brazil), which addresses the importance of this partnership model through an integrated view of the academic world, civil society and the private sector, together with representatives of key government agencies.The publication features articles, testimonials and interviews with experts and authorities, who share their knowledge and point out their challenges and benefits, covering management, contract and regulation aspects. Among them, the Minister of TCU, José Mucio Monteiro, the president of BNDES, Luciano Coutinho, and Secretary of the State of São Paulo, and Andrea Calabi. The edition also features FGV's vice president, Marcos Cintra; the director of FGV Projetos, Cesar Cunha Campos; the professors of FGV's São Paulo Law School, Carlos Ari Sundfeld and Mario Engler; the Superintendent Director of Public Partnerships of Odebrecht Properties, Geraldo Villin Prado; the General Manager of Institutional Relations of Vale, Andreia Rabetim; and the Financial & Risk CEO of Thomson Reuters in Brazil, Felipe Kury.An overview of public-private partnershipsWithin the long tradition of the Brazilian State to establish partnerships with the private sector, public-private partnerships are characterized as a major instrument for the federal government, states and municipalities to decentralize the administration of investments, maintaining their regulating and controlling role.The model is applied in various industries and already brings together successful examples in Health, Culture and Infrastructure.
