Brazilians prefer South rather than the Southeast to travel, indicates FGV

The latest survey from the Consumer Survey - Travel Plans, conducted in December 2013 by Fundação Getulio Vargas in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, reveals that the South Region is ahead of the Southeast Region among the favorite destinations for Brazilians to travel.The South was placed second in the survey, with 23.3% of the preferences, followed by the Southeast (21.7%), the Midwest (8.3%) and the North (6.6%). Whereas the Northeast region continues on the lead, accounting for 40.1% of the total.According to the survey, 37% of respondents plan to travel throughout Brazil and abroad in the next six months - the highest rate in the year 2013. Moreover, the percentage of those interested in national destinations was also an annual record - 76.2%, compared to 22%, who will be landing in other countries.The Consumer Survey - Travel Intention is conducted monthly in the cities of Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and São Paulo.
