FGV discusses economics and development at international meeting

São Paulo School of Economics (FGV/EESP) promotes this week the fifth edition of the Latin American Advanced Programme on Rethinking Macro and Development Economics (LAPORDE) - a program supported by Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP), that aims to develop critical perspectives on Macroeconomics and Development Economics, especially with respect to the specific needs and problems of Latin America.During the event, researchers from institutions such as Cambridge and Columbia, besides the School itself, will participate in debate sessions and present papers on topics ranging from exchange rate to the international monetary system, inflation, industrial policy and income distribution in Brazil. Altogether, the program will include 14 debate sessions on key topics about the regional and global economy.The director Yoshiaki Nakano and EESP's professors Luiz Carlos Bresser-Pereira, Nelson Marconi and Laura Barbosa de Carvalho will carry out the opening workshop with Ha-Joon Chang from Cambridge University. Bresser-Pereira will also lead the closing session of the meeting.LAPORDE starts today and goes until January 10th, Friday, at EESP.Please click here to learn more.
