Development ecology implemented by the government of Rio Grande do Sul state has already produced results in terms of the recovery of industrial production, employment and income in the state - with an increased participation of Rio Grande do Sul in national income. These are the main conclusions presented by the deputy director of FGV?s Public Policy Analysis Division (FGV/DAPP), Rogério Sobreira, at the Seminar of the State Government - which took place on November 11th, at Plaza São Rafael Hotel, in Porto Alegre.Development ecology' is a set of institutions and measures taken by the state government in order to stimulate its development, explains Sobreira. Also according to the professor, it comprises a set of state and regional banks; measures taken by the Treasury to obtain fiscal space used for development; and a smart blend of incentives, implemented by state revenues.The Government Seminar aims to assess the strategic map of the programs of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, analyze revenues, the agenda and the outcome of projects. In its 4th edition, the event brought together secretaries, presidents of municipalities, directors and specialists, who also discussed strategic priorities of the government for the next period.FGV/DAPP and FGV Projetos have actively cooperated in the development process of Rio Grande do Sul.
